This method of surgery is usually used to treat papilledema due to idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). Quick and/or accelerating loss of vision rather than the headaches is a common symptom of this condition. WebThe authors concluded that endoscopic optic nerve sheath fenestration was a minimally invasive and effective alternative with promising outcome in the management of medical refractory IIH or CVST. The authors stated that this study had a small sample size (n = 9), but the rarity of disease precluded a large size surgical data.
