I just bought a 970 evo m.2 SSD and I'm finding it extremely hard to install the damn thing because I can't get the standoff and screw to go in. The SSD clips on to the m.2 slot easily but it's impossible to screw the standoff in, I can't get it to go in it keeps slipping out. Webb26 aug. 2024 · I can't say for sure, but every HP notebook service manual I have randomly looked at all indicate the M.2 SSD hold down screw size is a Phillips PM2.0×x ??...?? length ranges from 2.0mm, 2.3mm, 3.0mm, and 3.5mm from the manuals I have looked at.

Webb11 dec. 2024 · The standoffs are 6-32, and as M3 is slightly smaller, it is possible for this to screw in, but it will damage the 6-32 threads and not be completely secure. Try and unscrew the 6-32 screws until they "skip" and then carefully screw them in again. You will need to have the screw straight, otherwise it might cross thread the standoff.
